Privacy Policy for WebP Image Grabber by Kodeonix

WebP Image Grabber by Kodeonix is a Chrome browser extension that finds images on the active browser tab and lets the user download selected images as original files or locally converted WebP files.

Information handled by the extension

To provide its user-facing features, the extension temporarily handles:

• The URL, domain, and title of the active browser tab
• Image URLs detected on the active tab
• Image files selected by the user for download or conversion
• User-selected extension settings, including preset, WebP quality, resize width, minimum image size, filename prefix, and format options

Website content and active-page information are accessed only when the user opens the extension popup.

The extension does not continuously monitor browsing activity and does not build or store a history of previously visited websites.

How information is used

The active-tab information and selected image resources are used only to:

• Detect images available on the active tab
• Display image previews
• Download a selected image directly
• Convert compatible images to WebP
• Resize images according to the selected preset
• Clean and prefix filenames
• Package multiple selected images into a ZIP file

These operations happen locally inside the user’s browser.

Image requests

Images may be hosted on the active website or on a separate image host or content delivery network.

When the user requests a download or conversion, Chrome requests the selected image from its original source. The original image host may receive standard network information associated with a browser request.

Kodeonix does not receive, proxy, inspect, or store those image requests.

Local storage and retention

The extension stores user preferences in Chrome’s local extension storage so that settings can be remembered between uses.

These preferences remain on the user’s device until the user clears the extension’s data or removes the extension.

Temporary image data, converted WebP files, and generated ZIP files are held in browser memory only for as long as necessary to complete the requested operation.

Kodeonix does not retain copies of the active page, image URLs, selected images, converted images, or ZIP files.

Data sharing and sale

Kodeonix does not sell, rent, share, or transfer the following data to advertisers, analytics providers, data brokers, or other third parties:

• Active-tab URLs
• Page titles
• Image URLs
• Selected images
• Converted images
• Downloaded files
• Extension settings

The extension contains:

• No user account system
• No advertising
• No analytics
• No tracking pixels
• No Kodeonix image-processing server
• No remotely hosted executable code

Permissions

The extension uses the following Chrome permissions:

activeTab
Temporarily accesses the browser tab on which the user opens the extension.

scripting
Runs the extension’s bundled image scanner on the active tab.

downloads
Starts image and ZIP downloads requested by the user.

storage
Stores extension preferences locally in Chrome.

offscreen
Provides a hidden extension document for local canvas-based WebP conversion, temporary file handling, and ZIP creation.

Host access
Requests selected images from their source websites or content delivery networks for local downloading, conversion, and ZIP packaging.

The extension does not scan websites continuously or in the background.

Security

The extension uses Manifest V3 and does not download or execute remotely hosted JavaScript or other remotely hosted executable code.

Kodeonix does not operate a server that receives the active tab, image URLs, selected images, downloaded files, or extension preferences.

Limited Use disclosure

Information handled by the extension is used only to provide the extension’s clearly described image-detection, conversion, resizing, filename-cleanup, direct-download, and ZIP-download features.

Information is not used for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, lending, or unrelated purposes.

The use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Children’s privacy

The extension is not specifically directed toward children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

This privacy policy may be updated if the extension’s functionality or legal requirements change.

The effective date at the top of this policy will be updated when material changes are made.
