KX Screenshot is a Chrome browser extension developed by Kodeonix. It allows users to capture a selected area of a webpage, the visible screen area, or a full-page screenshot.

This Privacy Policy explains what information KX Screenshot temporarily handles, how that information is used, and how the extension protects user privacy.

Scope of This Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the KX Screenshot Chrome extension.

It does not cover unrelated websites, applications, or services displayed in the browser or included within a screenshot.

Information Handled by KX Screenshot

Website Content

When a user manually starts a screenshot, KX Screenshot temporarily processes content from the current active webpage.

Depending on what is visible or selected, this content may include:

  • Text
  • Images
  • Page layout and styling
  • Visible links and buttons
  • Visible form fields or user-entered content
  • Sticky or fixed webpage elements
  • Other content displayed in the selected area or webpage

This website content is handled only to create the screenshot requested by the user.

All screenshot processing takes place locally in the user’s browser and on the user’s device.

Current Website Name

KX Screenshot may read the hostname of the current webpage locally to create a descriptive screenshot filename.

For example, a screenshot taken from example.com may be saved with the website name and capture date included in the filename.

The hostname is not stored by Kodeonix, transmitted to an external server, or used to create browsing history.

User Choices

The extension temporarily responds to user-selected actions such as:

  • Capture area
  • Capture screen area
  • Capture full page
  • Capture sticky elements
  • Copy to clipboard
  • Save PNG
  • Discard screenshot
  • Cancel full-page capture

These choices are used only to perform the requested screenshot action. KX Screenshot does not log, transmit, or remotely store these interactions.

Information KX Screenshot Does Not Remotely Collect

KX Screenshot does not transmit to Kodeonix or remotely collect:

  • Names, email addresses, or contact information
  • Account information
  • Authentication information
  • Passwords or credentials
  • Financial or payment information
  • Health information
  • Personal communications
  • Location information
  • Browsing history
  • Analytics or usage-tracking information
  • Advertising identifiers
  • Existing clipboard contents
  • Saved screenshot files

KX Screenshot does not create user profiles or monitor browsing activity in the background.

How Screenshot Capture Works

KX Screenshot accesses a webpage only after the user manually activates the extension through one of the available controls, such as:

  • The browser right-click menu
  • The extension icon
  • The configured keyboard shortcut

For a full-page screenshot, the extension may temporarily:

  • Scroll the webpage automatically
  • Wait for common lazy-loaded images and scroll animations
  • Temporarily block manual scrolling to prevent capture errors
  • Check whether the original tab remains active
  • Reduce repeated sticky or fixed elements
  • Include sticky or fixed elements when the user enables “Capture sticky elements”
  • Display capture progress
  • Allow the user to cancel the capture

These actions are performed locally and only for the screenshot requested by the user.

The extension does not intentionally modify the permanent content of the webpage. Temporary capture-related changes are removed when the capture finishes, is cancelled, or the page is restored.

Screenshot Output

After a screenshot is created, the user can choose to:

  • Copy the screenshot to the local clipboard
  • Save the screenshot as a PNG file
  • Discard the screenshot without copying or saving it

Screenshots are not automatically uploaded to Kodeonix or any external server.

Copy to Clipboard

When the user selects “Copy to clipboard,” KX Screenshot writes the generated screenshot image to the local clipboard.

KX Screenshot does not read existing clipboard contents.

Save as PNG

When the user selects “Save PNG,” the screenshot is saved locally through the browser and operating system.

The resulting file remains under the user’s control.

Discard or Cancel

When the user discards a completed screenshot or cancels a full-page capture, KX Screenshot does not save or upload the generated screenshot.

Temporary screenshot data is released when it is no longer required for the capture operation.

Browser Permissions

KX Screenshot uses the following Chrome permissions:

activeTab

Used only after the user explicitly starts a screenshot. It allows KX Screenshot to access and capture the current active tab for the requested screenshot.

It is not used for continuous background access.

contextMenus

Used to add the “Screenshot” command to the browser’s right-click menu so the user can manually start the extension.

scripting

Used only after the user activates the extension to insert the screenshot toolbar, selection interface, full-page capture controls, capture progress interface, and required styles into the current active webpage.

clipboardWrite

Used only when the user explicitly selects “Copy to clipboard” after creating a screenshot.

This permission allows KX Screenshot to write the generated image to the user’s local clipboard. It does not allow the extension to read existing clipboard contents.

These permissions are used only to provide KX Screenshot’s screenshot functionality.

Local Processing

The following operations take place locally in the user’s browser:

  • Webpage capture
  • Selected-area cropping
  • Full-page screenshot stitching
  • Image processing
  • Sticky-element handling
  • Lazy-content and animation waiting
  • Clipboard copying
  • PNG preparation and saving

KX Screenshot does not operate an external screenshot-processing server.

Captured webpage content is not transmitted to Kodeonix or any third party.

Data Storage and Retention

KX Screenshot does not maintain a remote user database.

Kodeonix does not retain:

  • Screenshots
  • Captured webpage content
  • Browsing history
  • Clipboard content
  • Screenshot filenames
  • User capture preferences
  • Personal information obtained through the extension

Temporary screenshot data may exist in the browser’s memory while the user’s screenshot is being created or while the extension waits for the user to copy, save, or discard it.

Once the operation is completed or cancelled, KX Screenshot does not retain that temporary data remotely.

Screenshots copied to the clipboard or saved as PNG files remain under the user’s control. Users can remove them by clearing the clipboard or deleting the saved file.

Data Sharing and Sale

KX Screenshot does not sell, rent, share, or transfer captured website content or personal information to third parties.

The extension does not use:

  • Advertising networks
  • Personalized advertising
  • Retargeting
  • Analytics services
  • Tracking services
  • Data brokers
  • Behavioral profiling

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

KX Screenshot uses information accessed through Chrome permissions only to provide or improve its disclosed webpage screenshot functionality.

KX Screenshot does not use or transfer handled information:

  • For purposes unrelated to screenshot functionality
  • For personalized or interest-based advertising
  • To determine creditworthiness
  • For lending purposes
  • For sale to data brokers or other third parties

Kodeonix personnel do not receive or review users’ screenshot content through the extension.

Remote Code

KX Screenshot does not download or execute remotely hosted code.

All code required to operate the extension is included in the extension package distributed through the Chrome Web Store.

Third-Party Services

KX Screenshot does not send screenshot content, webpage content, clipboard content, or extension usage data to third-party services.

The extension relies on standard browser functionality provided by Google Chrome to access the active tab, run the capture interface, copy images to the clipboard, and initiate local file saving.

The use of Google Chrome itself is subject to Google’s applicable terms and privacy practices.

Security

KX Screenshot is designed to minimize data exposure by:

  • Processing screenshots locally
  • Avoiding external screenshot transmission
  • Requesting only permissions needed for its current features
  • Not using remote code
  • Not using analytics or advertising trackers
  • Not maintaining a remote screenshot database

Users should review screenshots before copying, saving, or sharing them, particularly when a webpage contains private, confidential, financial, medical, authentication, or other sensitive information.

Children’s Privacy

KX Screenshot does not knowingly collect personal information from children or other users.

The extension does not require user registration, create user profiles, or maintain age information.

User Control

Users control when KX Screenshot accesses a webpage and creates a screenshot.

Users may:

  • Close the screenshot toolbar without capturing
  • Cancel full-page capture
  • Discard a completed screenshot
  • Choose whether to include sticky elements
  • Choose whether to copy or save the screenshot
  • Remove saved screenshots from their device
  • Clear copied screenshot content from their clipboard
  • Uninstall the extension at any time

Because Kodeonix does not receive or remotely retain screenshot data through the extension, Kodeonix generally has no extension-held screenshot data to retrieve, correct, or delete.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated if KX Screenshot’s functionality, permissions, data-handling practices, or legal obligations change.

Any updated version will be published on this page with a revised effective date or last-updated date.
